What is The Sketchbook Retreat?
The Sketchbook Retreat, recorded in beautiful Mijas, Spain, provides a week-long, online opportunity to play, explore, grow and connect with a community of fellow artists.
This 7 days of creative discovery will offer you the space to not only paint, but also to notice, reflect, and find the answers that are already within you.
By the end of the week, you’ll have a sketchbook brimming with ideas and a deeper clarity on what you want to create next.
Over 7 days you’ll be guided through inspiring sketchbook sessions that encourage playful exploration, self-expression, and reflection. With daily prompts, video lessons, and a supportive group by your side, you’ll finish the week with fresh ideas, renewed confidence, and a sketchbook that tells your story.
With just one hour a day, you’ll uncover fresh ideas, inner wisdom, and clarity on your next body of work. And you’ll leave with a sketchbook full of inspiration and a renewed sense of direction in your art - and your life.
This retreat isn’t just about making art, it’s about connecting with yourself and discovering what truly excites you. -
Whether you are an experienced artist who wants to get clear on your next body of work, or you are a less experienced artist (or even a complete novice!) who wishes to explore creativity and discover your own unique expression, this 7-day Sketchbook Retreat was made for you!
All you need to commit to time-wise is one hour per day.
-30 minutes for creating (towards the start of the day)
-30 minutes for reviewing (later in the day).
You will need to have a small range of supplies, including a sketchbook (a suggested material list is shown below).
The retreat will run from 1st to 7th November 2025. Each day you will receive a video lesson by email to carry out at a time that suits you personally.
You will have access to the daily lessons for the whole month of November, so please don't worry if you can't commit to these exact dates. You will have plenty of time to play, create and connect.
A Facebook group dedicated to this retreat will be open to you throughout October to share your experiences with each other, if you wish to.
After the 7 days of daily video lessons , Jo will host a live, interactive group call to connect, share, and encourage you on your onward journey.
